I think [livejournal.com profile] ignipes said it best in Ain't No Sin to be Glad You're Alive:

"April showers bring May flowers, dude."

"This is an April blizzard."

"So it brings really fucking tough May flowers. May flowers with teeth." Dean paused, then added thoughtfully, "And blowtorches."

And I thought we wouldn't get any accumulations...

Believe it or not, there were daffodils under there.

Scary thing is, this was at seven in the morning, and about four more inches have fallen since.

~

Either the city's snow plows have been retired to storage for the summer, or they already blew their budget on salt, because by eight o'clock this morning none of the major commuter routes had been ploughed. (I say major, but in a town like this...) I was bottoming out on the snow piled between tire ruts. It was fun.

By the drive home this afternoon, it was less bad. They must've done the roads at least once, and I made it up the hill in my ice-skaing hippopotamus car on a wing and a prayer.

There's a really neat lecture tonight on raptors and birds of prey, but if the roads stay like this and the snow continues to fall, I do not think I shall be attending.

My heart goes out to everyone at Virginia. Some things are to... there are no words, man.

In happier news, I posted Birthday fic for [livejournal.com profile] amchara last night. Jo-centric, about 1500 words, and given that I wrote most of it before Hunted aired, I'm rather pleased with the way it came out. :)

inchest? Were you, perhaps, trying to type a different word instead of inches?

Eh, I've been okay. Surprisingly productive, despite not wanting to actually work on anything.

I hope our weather gets better so I can transplant some darn daffodils!

Guh. Me too. Well, for the better weather not the transplants.

My seedlings are all indoors, staring at the snow safely through double-paned glass.

I was wondering if snow still exists on earth. I haven't seen it for months now. Sunny days following sunny days in France... Andhere I thought it was horrible. *g*

GUH. Make me Jealous as a cat at the aquarium, why don't you. It hasn't STOPPED snowing here.

this is CHERRY BLOSSOM WEEK for christsake, and we don't even have forsythia out yet. :/

Huh, sorry. But here's a virtual air ticket to come to France and to enjoy Spring early Summer time. *g*

A cherry blossom week? you do that too in the US? I thought it was only a Japanese cultural event!

oh, hee! Not an event. There's just a week in the year when all the cherry trees bloom at once and it's happy.

But not this April, I think.

I'm telling you, come to sunny Arizona. No snow in sight here.

I know. I'm still trying to process what happened. :(

Guh. It's, yeah. I can't even imagine the lost potential or the things that would make a person do that.

Oh you poor snowed-in people! We just had 9" of rain here. I seriously thought my house was going to be blown down in the middle of the night; have never heard wind like that before in my life. COME ON SPRING, LET'S GO!!

9 inches of rain isn't much better... though I dread the flooding up when all this stuff (plus the next three days' rain) melts this weekend...
