Snow Day!

The roads are closed to all but emergency traffic, but the university website declares they're open for business as usual. My guess is that no one made it in this morning to update the web...

Either way, I'm giving myself a snow day because in more than half an inch of snow, my car handles like a wildebeast on roller skates, and I'm not really in a mood to end up in another ditch in fifteen inches. My other big fear is that I'll make it in to school and the next fifteen inches will leave me stranded there, unable to get back to the dogs. The snow should stop sometime tonight, and I'll probably make it in to work for my overnight shift, but until then:

DAY OFF!!

Erm. I'm not superpleased with this, but I've been unable to get the picture out of my head and it's all Lyra's fault. )

Rating, Warning, Disclaimer: G, none, don't own him, wish I did. Reference image used for JA's face here.
Media: Pencil, chalk pastel, edited in Photoshop CS

Note: This is an image I've had stuck in my head ever since the lovely [livejournal.com profile] medicinal_mirth sent me her story Capacity to read. I hoped that, perhaps, by attempting to put it on paper, I would be able to think about something else. I was wrong. It's just a wee thing, but here you are, dear. :)

There's nothing behind but what he chooses to leave there. )

ETA: Question to all the artists on my flist: I am crappity crap crap at sketching out backgrounds, even when I try (as is clearly not the case here). How do you do it? What inspires you? How do you have the patience?

So, I kind of wanted to illustrate some stories I've been reading, but being that this is a fandom with real faces, I thought I should practice drawing the winchesters first.

Here are my first four attempts. Mostly Dean. I don't think I've quite got Jensen's face down. Any concrit is greatly appreciated.

Anatomy for Art

Alo. It's been a while since I had something to contribute, mostly because my stories are stuck in my head and my art is lacking... something.

I decided, therefore, to teach myself to draw all over again, and to begin with human anatomy as I've recently done equine and canine. Because cadavers are hard to come by, all my pictures are adapted from Jeno Barcsay's Anatomy for the Artist. The light was intractable while I photographed them, and so I apologise for the shadows and such.

Every few days, I plan to do another body region. This is the arm )

Notes: This took so long because I was doing my best to illustrate one of my favoutite quotes. I never made a line drawing worth continuing, so I finally moved on.

Either almost no one saw, or commented on the last one. Either way, if you're interested, there's a link to it at the bottom of the page.

Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose who 'made' me read this book and whose birthday somewhat recently passed. Inspired by the original cartoon movie. More panels to come. Apologies for the hiatus. The next won't likely won't be finished 'til Monday, but the two after that are done, and then it's on to the end of the story!! I think this is the one I'm most proud of so far, but you be the judge when you've seen them all.

Okay. So I'm posting some of the Christmas cards I've sent out. I was experimenting with watercolour really experimenting. I don't do it well, and would very much appreciate any critiques or suggestions for how to use it better.

Also, I'm posting the images separately so that people don't have to look at theirs if, say, it hasn't arrived yet. *cough*
