Summoned by the devil

I just got a summons to appear in court in two weeks (FINAL NOTICE. OR ELSE. DUM DUM DUMMMM) for a speeding ticket I got two years ago, plead guilty to two years ago, and never heard from again.
Er...
Any lawyers in the crowd?

2008-06-05 13:37 (UTC)You can probably call the clerk (the number should be on the notice you were sent) and get more information about 1) what they potentially want from you, 2) procedurally, what's going to happen if/when you appear, 3) if your alleged delinquency is going to affect your points and thus your auto insurance. If your traffic record is clean since then, you'll probably have a better case to argue that you shouldn't be penalized.
Also, "appearing in court" isn't as intimidating as it sounds. Typically it's not even in front of a judge per se, but some more minor adjudicator in an office or cubicle going through 27 other cases that day.
