So, about those two, hot mudmonkeys.
First, I loved this one, it gave me shivers throughout. Whereas I've had some beef with the last. I thought the plot, the demon, the twist with sibling witches/warlocks, the choice, the angels/zombies/ghosts/kids in costume were all SPOT on. Also, I love our boys, I love how this season is developing. I love Kripke's patience, when I want all my reveals NOW. just so much love.
- Two words. Jail. Bait. :D Oh Dean, never change, keep going after six hundred year old hags in sixteen-year-old clothing.
- Sam's FACE when Dean introduces him to Castiel. Sam rocked this whole ep out in general, but this moment was PRECIOUS.
- I'm also really glad that he got to meet the angels, even if it was a little disillusioning, because the way Dean's been talking about them (beings no one else has seen or hear sending him on missions back in time) makes him sound kinda like a crazy person. ;) Well, you know what he'd say if it was SAM seeing angels from God.
- Still on the angel thing, I'm LOVING where they're going with Castiel's character. He's almost becoming a fluffy-guardian angel despite himself. His language is... a little coloquial sometimes, but I guess you can only steal a human body for so long without overusing the word 'like'. I love that Dean seems so much more comfortable around him now. Not sure whether it's an intentional sign of his angelic vibe, but it works for me.
- Dean's speech to Sam in the car was great. "Babe Ruth was a dick, but baseball is still abeautiful game." We all knew he loved baseball. And we all know he loves Sam. But that moment was so perfectly big-brother.
- Uriel is kind of a creep. I like that.
- Sam's thing with the blood was awesome. Dean's reaction was even better. (For the record, THAT was the reaction I think they should've played up to Sam's crazy last-minute plan last episode.)
- I could almost not watch while Sam was fighting Samhain. It gave me goosebumps. He's totally powerful, and I don't think Dean really got it until that moment (and he would've done it all again.) Normally, you know he would've run in, grabbed the knife, and whaled on that demon before Sam could finish his mental-exorcism. But it was so, so gloriously human that he just stood and stared instead.
- Finally, Sam's FACE when Uriel mentioned Dean's memories of Hell. That killed me.
From start to finish, awesome ep.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

2008-10-31 14:25 (UTC)As a huge baseball FREAK, I squeed out loud at that one. (Although Ty Cobb was a bigger dick than Babe Ruth, but I suppose Ruth was more of an iconic figure... *cough*)
And Castiel LAUGHED. He's getting a sense of humor! *dance*

2008-10-31 19:31 (UTC)And Castiel. He is quickly becoming as favorite a recurring character as Bobby. Although I still miss Ellen. He's more and more human as the season goes on, and I for one, think it works on him. With the two on their bench at the end of the ep, I kept getting shades of Good Omens. :D

2008-10-31 23:20 (UTC)AND OMG, I KNOOOOOW!!! Good Omens is on my winter re-reading list, although I think I might move it up. (How long do you think it'll be until we see some crossover action? :-D)

2008-11-01 02:56 (UTC)As for the crossovers... already got some half-started on the hard drive. Er.

2008-10-31 19:13 (UTC)And, yes! I originally was mad at Dean for not picking up the knife and jumping in to the fight with Samhain, but I love your explanation that he was shocked and stunned by the manifestation of Sam's powers (although he did see evidence of them that night he was peeping-Tom on Sam and Ruby, so...) Meh. Who cares? Great explanation.

2008-10-31 19:35 (UTC)Yeah, but when he saw it with Ruby, that was a low-level kinda scrub demon. This was... Samahin. I mean, damn. I was blown away. (also I think part of Dean's hesitation was maybe to see if Sam could really do it. I think if Samhain had started to win, Dean would've been in there with the knife faster than you can say 'gotcha')
I know it wasn't your favorite ep of the season, but maybe on rewatch? (it was definitely one of mine)
Trickortreating tonight?

Yes. Off to quick carve pumpkins and then get everyone dressed. Copious pictures to be taken. Then off to hit the neighbors up for chocolate! :D
I'll try to post some pics under flock tomorrow. Hope you have a fun evening too! (Are you already done traveling and home?!)

2008-10-31 22:24 (UTC)HA, yes! I loved that. And Jared's giant hand all over Jensen's face wasn't unpleasant to watch, either!
