Icons and a sort-of recipie

I've been craving a good running icon, and so, like any good LJ user, decided to make some myself.
All images are from the Getty Royalty-free collection. Feel free to d/l and use as many as you want, but if you want to credit, that's probably where it should go. All I did was crop, cut, and level a bit. ;)

And after
ignipies posted this a little while back, I have been craving butternut squash soup like a crazy thing. I'm not big on following recipies to the letter, but this soup turned out a-freaking-mazing (if I do say so myself), so I thought I'd try to reproduce what I did here:
1. Sautee in a dollop of olive oil (or your favorite nonostick spray/butter/white wine): 6-8 cloves of garlic diced, about two finger's worth of ginger peeled and diced, two red onions, one large or two small leeks, one red chili pepper, and two tablespoons lemongrass (preserved or fresh).
2. When the garlic is just browning, and the onions and leeks just getting soft, add 2 teaspoons of Thai red curry paste and coat well. Add to large pot.
3. Add about 2lbs (or two squashes) butternut squash peeled and cubed, one granny smith apple peeled and cubed, one russet or sweet potato (depending on the flavor you want) peeled and cubed, and four cups vegetable (or other) broth
4. Add more curry paste if desired and bring to a boil.
5. Simmer as long as you can (~1-2 hours) until root vegetables start to mush as you stir them. If you run out of time, it can sit in the fridge like this overnight.
6. Blend until no chunks are left (cuisinart or immersion blender).
7. Turn off flame and add lite coconut milk until just creamy-looking (I put in 1/2 can). Salt and pepper to taste (personally, I cook with very little salt).
And enjoy!

In other totally random news: GO PATS!! (evin if
grrm slams them in EVERY single post he makes, I love that there's a really great team in the sport today. I love that it happens to be one of my favorite teams. And also, Tom Brady is hot and has the locker next to Randy Moss ♥ )
It snowed again last night. Seriously, it is JUST over my house. As I drive up the hill, it's rain/slush and then BOOM, within a mile of home in any direction: all snow.
Okay, off to school. Have a good Monday! (it WILL be good, short week for all those stateside.)
