Almost there

Whew. Two weeks later I have a night to lay on the couch, doing nothing but watch Supernatural (for the first time in *weeks* I'll have you know, Gin)

The move is almost moved. I'm more or less unpacked. Built a fenced-in pen for my dog, and all that remains is to clean the place and find a spot for my TV.

I had to present my summer's research to a) the man who sponsored it and b) the rest of the lab group today, and it actually went okay. I have one more week there to wrap up my experiments and play with the pretty ponies. Pictures of babies and house to come in the near future.

So relieved. I've actually lost about two pants sizes and lord knows how many pounds this month-- not by diet and excersize, but by stress and forgetting to eat. Er. Whatever works I guess.

School starts again in a week. *gulp*

In the meantime, I'm a little daunted by how far removed I've been from fandom and how behind I am on my f-list. What'd I miss?

HEY DO I KNOW YOU?

*stares*

Congrats on being almost moved, and on the research presentation.

You didn't miss much. Well, there was this book that came out, but you've probably never heard of it.

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
heh. yep. even managed to sneak in reaing it between boxes... ;)

I've been kin of nervous to see anyone else's reaction.

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
and NOPE. I'm a TOTAL STRANGER.

[identity profile] iamstealthyone.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Good to see you online, and glad the move is nearly complete.

In the meantime, I'm a little daunted by how far removed I've been from fandom and how behind I am on my f-list. What'd I miss?

Not much, other than all the spoilers about Dean and Sam quitting hunting to host their own reality show, "America's Next Top Hunter." Rumor has it each ANTH episode will feature at least one of the boys shirtless, although nobody has been able to confirm that. One can always hope, though.

[identity profile] girlmostlikely.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
BWAHAHAHAHHA!! Best. Comment. Ever.

Friending, hope you don't mind. *g*

[identity profile] iamstealthyone.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad it amused you. :)

Friending, hope you don't mind. *g*

Not at all. Friending you back. :)

[identity profile] iamstealthyone.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, I'm all distracted by your belly icon.

*is distracted*

Umm ... where was I?

Oh yeah ... hi. :)

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
I know. *licks icon*

*wipes smudge marks from monitor*

[identity profile] iamstealthyone.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! And whose rockin' bod is that, anyway? Generic Man or someone famous?

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
generic bod of a male deity, apparently.

[identity profile] iamstealthyone.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It's definitely pleasant to look at. *g*

[identity profile] vichan.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
There was just this book that came out, and then there was rejoicing and wanking. And a small blackout, and another dose of "let's all mass-move to _______journal! IT'LL BE THE BEST THING EVER."

Truthfully, I'm glad I just read a Nameless book and hid under a rock.

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Again, eh? Feeling both frustrated with the management that's as useless as a pack of trained shit-throwing monkeys and apathetic about the whole thing.

It was a pretty rock thoough? and spacious underneath?

[identity profile] insight2.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
What'd I miss?

ME, OBVIOUSLY.

Also how can you have lost two pant sizes? We must fats you up.

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
ME, OBVIOUSLY

well, duh. I thought that was implied in the question.

[identity profile] girlmostlikely.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
WHAT? Has the world stopped turning on its axes? *boggles*

MISS YOU, HONEY!! ♥

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
I think it might just've done

How you holding up this morning?

[identity profile] deirdre-c.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi Kris! Missed you!!

You come back, I leave for the weekend. WHAT'S THE WORLD COMING TO? *sadface*

Hope we can catch up soon! :)

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear! Well we will have to do some rewatching in the near futurre. Apparently it's going to be about FIFTY BILLION YEARS until they start airing the third season. ;)

Hi. *waves* Still hanging around and being a nuisance.

Glad to hear your moving went... well, eventually well. I'm staring down the barrel of that one on Tuesday, myself. *shudders*

I do want to pick your brain - and that phrase takes on a whole new dimension when you start hanging out in zombie-populated fandoms. huh. - about dog ownership in the area. Anywhere good to take them running/playing/sniffing? We're going to have a yard, but I'd like to give him a little variety now and then. He's kind of a curious monster.

School starts again in a week. *gulp*

Yep. I'm going to be over here huddled up in terror. *hides*

What'd I miss?

Oh, just the usual re-enactment of the Big Bang Theory. (Something went boom, everyone headed for the hills, and then it got really, really quiet.) Don't worry, though. The universe seems to have reformed more or less okay.

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, good luck dude. The UHauls are pulling in from all over this week. It's kinda crazy.

As for dog spaces, yeah there are trails local to just about every neighborhood. There's a legal off-leash park downtown by the marina (the dogs love playing in the lake) and people go off leash on a bunch of the trails-- if you can trust your dog (I can't *g*)

Funny how the world has a way of returning to status quo after every major explosion.

And no worries! First year is awesome, even if you feel a little like a) you're at some odd combination of your high school and Hogwarts and b) Dr B threw you in the deep end of the ocean and is having a blast watching you try to swim. :D

[identity profile] dolorous-ett.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
Well done! You survived!

What went on? Oh, you know, the daily round, the common task - wank and some new canon and then more wank... and the rest of us quietly getting on with having fun.

Try and get yourself a bit of proper break - you've earned it!

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
heh. yep! with sanity more or less intact.

Oh, joy to the wank. er.

And i'll have time to sleep when I'm dead ;)

[identity profile] amchara.livejournal.com 2007-08-04 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
*GLOMPS*

You're back! Yay!

Sounds like it was a horribly stressful time though, which really sucks. But hey, it's over now and you're all moved in and can RELAX, and watch Supernatural and play with the ponies and such. :)

A week 'til school starts though? Wow, where has the summer gone...

I've been missing from the flist too though, having a life off the internetz and all that jazz. ;) So I'm not sure I can really catch you up on stuff. But! I do want to point you towards one thing: story for you. :D

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-05 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
ohhh. AWESOME STORY!! That's... thank you for pointing it out. :D

Yeah, one more week, and unfortunately I get no time off before it happens. I tell you, this summer has worn me down to the bone, though, and it's gonna be a bit of a relief to have nothing to do but lectures and labs and study a bit in the afternoon.

[identity profile] longlongwaytogo.livejournal.com 2007-08-06 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry for coming to your journal like this, but you're a maintainer of fandom_counts. I presume you're aware of the Strikethrough part II, The Boldening, where they're acting appallingly again and once again lashing out at fandom, just in a smaller way this time? Everyone who has heard about it is freaking out once again. And, we just noticed that most people *don't* know about it this time around, though it's even worse with the issues of trust and homophobia and their motives. We were wondering if you (or your fellow maintainer) could post a 'warning' comment in fandom_counts explaining what is going on this time, so that the 35,000 journals can be made aware that they need to stand up and be counted again?

[identity profile] krisomniac.livejournal.com 2007-08-08 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
:) Wow, that's a surprise, actually. I didn't realize that this recent Lj administrative clusterfuck was so quiet. I'm *trying* not to think about it too hard, but that's a whole separate issue.

As for fandom_counts, Vichan can correct me if i'm wrong, but I still think we're holding pretty fast to the non-posting primary rule of the comm. Even for clearly important and relevant issues. She's the primary maintainer and it's her baby, and I know she's aware of this lastest snafoo, so that would be up to her to change.

Hope that helps? I apologise for not having a better answer.

-k-

[identity profile] longlongwaytogo.livejournal.com 2007-08-08 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
We actually found each other during the spamfest, and she explained. sorry for bothering you.
Yeah, I didn't realise it was so quiet either... at first I assumed that word had got around but I quickly realised it hadn't.
